There are two ways to add video to your Powtoon, as a background or as an object.
As with all objects, it can be moved around the slide, locked in place, as well as applying entrance, exit, and movement effects.
As with all slide backgrounds, any content from the Powtoon Studio (text, objects, characters, etc.) can then be added on top of the video.

If you have a soundtrack playing over the during of your entire Powtoon, you can automatically lower the volume of the soundtrack while your video plays

Important
In the Powtoon Studio, you need to be working in Create mode in order to add a video.
Adding a video as an object
- Navigate to the slide to which you want to add a video.
- Select the Media tab.
- Use the search bar or browse the following libraries to locate a video:
- Video Footage: these are premium HD videos, covering a wide range of subjects and concepts.
- My Media: these are videos that you have uploaded from your computer or used previously. This also includes videos shared with your from other teams.
- Team & Company Folders: These are videos that have been shared with your team, or are available to all company members. The title of these folders will differ for each organization.
Before selecting a video, you can hover over the video thumbnail and watch a preview.
- Select the video that you want to add to your Powtoon. It will be added to the slide.
Important:
If the duration of the video you are uploading is longer then the slide, you will see an additional pop-up. You will need to choose between two options:
Extend Length- This will extend the length of the slide to fit the video
Trim Video- This will trim the video, to fit the duration of the slide.
- Once you have added your video to the timeline, adjust the sound of the video, and main soundtrack to fine tine the audio of your Powtoon.
Select the video, and click on settings
- Click Sound.
- Adjust the volume, and select the option to reduce the volume of the main soundtrack automatically, according to your needs.
Adding a video background
- Navigate to the slide to which you want to add a video. The video will be added to a single slide.
- Select the Backgrounds tab.
- Use the search bar or browse the following libraries to find the video that is right for your Powtoon:
- Video Footage: these are videos from Storyblocks, a huge collection of studio-quality HD videos.
- My Videos: these are videos that you have uploaded from your computer or used previously.
Before selecting a video, you can hover over the video thumbnail and watch a preview. - My Recordings: these are videos that have been recorded using the Powtoon Capture extension.
- Shared Media: these are videos that have been shared with your from your team, or organization.
- Select the video for your Powtoon. It will be added as a background.
Important:
If the duration of the video you are uploading is longer then the slide, you will see an additional pop-up. You will need to choose between two options:

Adjusting Soundtrack Volume
If you want to automatically lower the volume of the soundtrack while your video plays, follow these steps. This only applies to a video added to a slide via the timeline (Video as an Object). If the video was added as a background, it is not possible to automatically lower the soundtrack volume.
1. Click on the video, and click on the .
2. Click on the toggle "Reduce soundtrack volume"
