If the Powtoon that you are creating includes a video background - as part of a template or added independently by you - it is very easy to swap out the video for any other in the Powtoon libraries.
The new video will replace the original video in its entirety on a single slide. If the new video is longer than the current slide, you will be prompted to either extend the slide, or shorten the video.
Swapping a video
- In the slide panel, select any thumbnail that includes the video that you want to swap out.
- In the upper left corner of the slide, click Swap.
You can also right-click on the slide and select Swap background.
The following message will be displayed:

d. Browse the videos in the 'My Media' library. These are videos that you have uploaded or used
in other Powtoons.

4. Select the new video. The following message will be displayed:

When the new video is shorter than the original
- The new video will play until its end, after which the last frame will be displayed as a static image until the end of the last slide.
When the new video is longer than the original
- The video background will be switched, however no changes to the timeline, or length of the slide will be made.
- If you want to play more of the video that what the timeline allows, extend the length of the slide, and re-add the same video background, by click SWAP, and following the steps outlined above.
