Once you have added a video to your Powtoon, you may find it necessary to make one or more of the following changes to the video:
- Trim a section from the beginning of the video
- Trim a section from the end of the video
- Continue the video to the next slide (Background video only)
- Loop a video (Background video only)
Trimming Video as an Object
Trimming a section from the beginning of a video
- Locate the video that you would like to trim.
- Drag the left edge of the object's duration to the desired beginning time.
In the example below:
The video will be edited to begin at the 4th second. All the frames before this point will be trimmed out. On the timeline, the duration of the video starts at 0:00-9:00. In the second image, the video shows 4:00-9:00.
Trimming a section from the end of a video
- Locate the video that you would like to trim.
- Drag the right edge of the object's duration to the desired end time.
In the example below:
The video will be edited to end at the 4th second. All the frames before this point will be trimmed out. On the timeline, the duration of the video starts at 0:00-9:00. In the second image, the video shows 0:00-4:00.
Background Video
Trimming a section from the beginning of a video
- Navigate to the slide that contains a background video you wish to trim.
- Locate the point in the video where you want the scene to begin.
- In the lower left corner of the slide, click the video indicator to display the video controls.
The video indicator displays the start and end times of the video on the current slide. The background video is set to start at second 00:00 and play for 00:10 seconds, out of a total video length of 00:15 seconds: 00:00 - 00:10 / 00:15
In the example below:We will set the video to play from the 5th second. - Click on the camera icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Click Start Time.
- Choose which second should be the start point of the video. Remember: Background videos will always start to play at the first second of the slide.
Continue the video to the next slide
- Navigate to the slide that contains a background video you wish to continue to the next slide (extend)
- On the slide thumbnail on the left of the studio, click the 3 dots.
- Select Extend.
- A new slide will be created. The background video will continue where it ended on the previous slide.
Looping a video
- Navigate to the slide that contains a background video you wish loop
- On the slide thumbnail on the left of the studio, click the 3 dots.
- Select Duplicate.
- This will create an exact copy of the previous slide, include the same portion of background video that was previously playing, creating a looping effect.
