Can I use AI Avatars?
AI Avatars is not available to all organizations. If you want access to AI Avatars for your organization, please contact your Customer Success Manager, open a support ticket, or email enterprisesupport@powtoon.com for more information.
Adding a new AI Avatar to your Scene
- Inside the Powtoon Studio, click on the Avatar tab.
- Click Avatars.
- Choose the Avatar you want to add to the scene.
To use an existing Avatar, continue to the section Add an existing Avatar to your Scene. - Click on the Voice Icon.
- Add a voice-over to the Avatar.
At this point, the Voice-over is linked to the Avatar. However, the avatar has not been generated. The Audio will play, but the Avatar is still just a preview.
- To sync the voice to the Avatar, click Generate Lipsync. This can take up to a few minutes, depending on the length of the Voice-over. You can continue editing while it works in the background.
By clicking Generate Lipsync, you will be charged credits.

Generating an Avatar
Generating an Avatar, is the process of synching audio to the avatar. This will animate the mouth, as well as other general body motion, turning your Avatar from a static image, into a hyper realistic animation.
- Select the Avatar you want to generate from the scene.
- Click on the Voice Icon.
- Add a voice-over to the Avatar.
At this point, the Voice-over is linked to the Avatar. However, the avatar has not been generated. The Audio will play, but the Avatar is still just a preview.
- To sync the voice to the Avatar, click Generate Lipsync. This can take up to a few minutes, depending on the length of the Voice-over. You can continue editing while it works in the background.

Re-Using an Avatar
Once an Avatar has been generated, it can be used as many times as you want, without paying additional credits.
- Inside the Powtoon Studio, click on the Avatar tab.
- Click My Avatar Videos.
- Click on the Avatar you want to add to the scene.
- The Avatar will be added to the scene.
Changing Avatar Orientation (View)
Certain Avatar characters have the ability or face the front, or the side. Character with the ( ) symbol can have the view changed.
Switching a generated avatar to a new view, such as front view to side view, will require a new AI generation. You'll see the following notification when trying to switch views with a generate avatar.
- Select an Avatar with the 'view change' icon ( ).
- The Avatar will always enter the scene facing front.
- On the Avatar, click on the settings gear icon ( ).
- Hover your mouse over View ( ).
- Select the desired View.
- The Avatar view will be updated.
